Choosing the right diaper is key to protecting a baby’s delicate skin. We asked Dr. Katja, Chief Product Officer at DYPER, to explain why parents should prioritize plant-based diaper ingredients for baby's skin health.

What does it mean to have plant-based materials in a disposable diaper?

Most disposable diapers are primarily made with over 75% plastic. Key components—such as the skin-facing liner (topsheet), absorbent core wrap, and the external layer (backsheet) - all contain plastic-based materials. As a result, a baby's skin remains in constant contact with plastic during their diaper-wearing years, which may contribute to skin rashes, irritation, and discomfort.

Our approach is different - we’ve replaced key components with plant-based materials to create a diaper that is 55% certified USDA BioPreferred, clinically tested, and dermatologist approved for delicate skin.

What does it mean if a product receives a 5-star Dermatest® rating?

A product that receives a 5-star Dermatest® rating (like our diapers!) has undergone rigorous dermatological testing to ensure maximum skin safety. This means it has been clinically tested over a 4-week period on a group of volunteers, under expert supervision, to rule out potential skin reactions.
