Hello Google Auth Platform Developer,

We’re writing to inform you about an upcoming change that may affect your applications and scripts using Google Auth Platform for Sign-in with Google or for calling Google APIs.

We’ve provided additional information below to guide you through this change.

What you need to know

As we recently announced, starting June 2025, OAuth clients that have remained inactive for six months will be automatically deleted. This change helps prevent credential theft and misuse.

Inactivity is determined based on the absence of token exchanges and client updates. Viewing an OAuth client on Google Cloud Console is not considered activity. After an OAuth client is deleted, you will have 30 days to restore it in the Google Auth Platform section of the Google Cloud Console.

What you need to do

None of your OAuth clients are marked for deletion. So, no action is required from you.

If a client remains inactive for an extended period, you will receive a notification. To prevent deletion, you must use the client again. For more information, visit the Help Center.

Protect your applications

To protect your applications and enhance security, please adhere to the following best practices:

Never check client secrets into version control systems, especially those that allow access to user data or other production systems
Never share client secrets widely on the internet
Rotate client secrets periodically and change them immediately, if a data breach occurs
Keep your developer contact information current to ensure you receive future updates from us
