Sunday Somethings #6

Happy Sunday and hello old friend sunshine.

There is nothing as soul-warming as sunshine after winter. It draws us out of our cosy lairs into the freshness of the air and brings lightness to the spirit. It is the perfect time for woolly layers, soft and natural against the skin. I am layering the Wyre Collection under and over everything, topped with a Fleetwood Cardigan.

A follower asked to learn more about our farmers and I realised it's been a while with all our collabs and launches that we have talked enough about the 30-40 farms in the North of England who supply us with their pedigree Bluefaced Leicester fleeces, so I wrote about the three farmers who helped me at the beginning to start HERD in my substack Ruth Alice Rands @herdwords. This photo is wonderful Mr Stott of Lancashire with his grandson holding freshly shorn armfuls of Bluefaced Leicester fleece. You may be wearing some of it in your knit today....

Here's how I got dressed for London meetings earlier this week. The Wyre Cardigan coming into its' own, giving soft feminine layers with an elevated earthiness.

And here's the Wyre in Mist on a sunny stomp - light, breathable, beautiful.

This coming week is the much anticipated plant-dyed yarn launch, which have arrived and are ready for shipping.

Due to the plant dyeing the wool strands are longer and so this yarn will be finer that our DK weight yarn (despite having the same number of ends of the same count of yarn - go figure) so I just need to work out the count by measuring the meterage of one ball to calculate which count this knits up as.

We only have 360 balls of Sloe and 200 balls of Shrimp so do make sure you get everything you need for your project in one go :)
