Dear Fellow Conservative,

On this day in 1787, our Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution, our republic’s foundational document.

That’s why it’s especially fitting that The Heritage Foundation today released the third edition of the Heritage Guide to the Constitution, the definitive roadmap for readers to navigate each provision of our country’s foundational charter.

It is the most famous and important political document ever written for a reason. Our Constitution puts the principles of the Declaration of Independence into action, establishing a government based on the consent of the governed and separation of powers.

In the preface, Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr. calls the Heritage Guide to the Constitution “a great place to start” for Americans who “want to understand what our Constitution means.”
