Cracking The Code: When bluefin are suspended mid-column and keyed on sand eels, the whole game changes. At The Gully, the fish were holding 50–60 feet down in 155 feet of water — not on the surface, not on the bottom. That meant one thing: we needed a lure that could stay in the zone longer, not blow past it. The Challenge: Sand-eel-keyed bluefin were suspended mid-column on a tough day when much of the fleet had already switched to trolling. Heavy jigs sank past the target depth too quickly.
